New Flooring....Coming VERY soon!

Currently...our house is a disaster.

Henry and a friend pulled and removed all of the carpet last weekend.  Our dining room is full of all of the furniture from the 2 guest bedrooms and the living room furniture is in the garage.

All of this is because we are getting BRAND NEW CARPET this weekend!  This has been needed since we bought the house over a year ago...pretty sure the carpet was from when the house was built!

Before the new carpet was installed we figured we should also replace the entry way tile!  Makes more sense to replace that now.  We're using slate and I can't wait to see it with the carpet.
Just laying it out to see how it looks - Henry is installing this week
While the guys were at Home Depot picking up the tile I vacuumed where the carpet was - so glad we were able to do this!  While in the guestroom I decided to use a can of test paint we had to paint the closet a dark purple...love it!  I now want to paint all of the closets :)

New carpet is going in the living room, hallway, and 3 bedrooms...can't wait for it to be installed this weekend to see how it all looks!

Front Door Update

When we purchased our house the front door was a hunter green color with brass hardware.  It wasn't terrrrrible, but definitely needed an update.  A few months ago when I mentioned to Henry that I would like to paint the door he informed me there was a brand new exterior door in the basement that the previous owner left.  He measured and it was the same size!

The only close up picture I have of the color before

After deciding on a dark grey color and purchasing new, oil rubbed bronze, hardware I got to painting!  The door was already primed, so one step done!

First coat...complete!  We used is Behr Intellectual exterior paint.

While I painted, Henry prepped the door frame.  Once everything was dry he attached the new hardware and then installed the door!

LOVE IT!  Now we just need to update the brass hardware on the glass door

Cross one thing off the to do list and add at least one more, that's how it seems to go around our house :)

New Pillow Cases!

I found this twin sheet at Ralph Lauren outlet a few months ago and loved the color, print, and price so I picked one up to use for something in the guestroom/office.

Twin flat sheet from Ralph Lauren outlet - $9
Well this weekend, the sheet became 3 pillowcases to put on the daybed!   Henry got me a sewing machine for my birthday a few years ago, so I love finding reasons to use it..
This room is still very much a work in progress.  It is the smaller of the two guest rooms that we use as an office, however there is also a daybed setup.  The current comforter is navy so I am thinking navy, coral, and cream for colors.  The room is slowly coming together.

Also, this weekend I worked on the front door...

The previous owner left a brand new front door in the basement!  We painted and purchased new hardware this weekend and it hopefully will be hung tonight!  Just in time for KSU football so I can hang the new wreath I made!

Chi Town

Road Trip! A the end of July I took a trip to Chicago with a few girls.  It was my first time to Chicago and it was a blast!  Lucky for us, Kristen lives there and was able to show us around.

Day one...

The first day we drove into the city then took the L to Michigan Ave. where we took in the sites and went into a few shops.  Then we walked our way to the bean and Millennium Park.  We spent quite a bit of time there taking pictures and walking in the childrens little water area!  After all the walking we were starving so we headed to Giordano's!  Our pizza was delish!  That evening we went to a bar near Lincoln park then to Wigleyville.

Day 2...

On Sunday we headed to Ikea.  We had some fun in the chair section and some of their kitchens.  That afternoon we played some ladder golf in the front yard then went to Houlihans for Long Islands and appitizers.

Day 3...

We took the train into the city, stopped to see the sears tower, and slurpees from 7-11 :).  Then walked to Navy Pier and the beach!  It was so nice outside. We then took a water taxi back to the train station.  The water taxi was not as quick as we were told, so we missed the train!  Luckily, there was another about 20 minutes later so we hung out at Union Station.

We drove home on Tuesday then it was back to work on Wednesday.  Already looking forward to Colorado in August then Seattle in October!

Cooperton Rodger

 Meet my pup Cooper!

This is the day I brought him home...

And a bunch of cute pics from my iPhone...

Hats he likes to wear...

He'll climb and lay anywhere...

In cars he likes to ride...

But really, he prefers to drive...

 He really loves the snow...

And using my bear as a pillow...

He doesn't mind helping with laundry...

But really, he would prefer to sit and watch me...

Anyone else find the majority of their phone pictures are of a pet?

August Birchbox

In February I signed up for Birchbox.  Each month they send a box with various beauty samples.  I love it since it allows me to try so many different products without having to purchase the full size.

This months items...

This was one of the best Birchbox's I have received!  Products included were...

Juicy Couture - Viva la Juicy La Fleur sample
Pixi Beauty - Lip stick and liner (Color - Bare Berry)
Miss Jessie's Original - Stretch Silkening Créme (curl and shine cream for hair)
Yu-Be - Moisturizing Skin Cream (Japanese cream that hydrates chapped lips, heels, and hands)
Schick - Hydro Silk Razor

I immediately tried the Pixi lipstick and it is awesome.  The color is great and it is very smooth.

I'm very excited to try the curl creme.  It does claim to be "the best darn curl creams period" so we will have to see!

Page 1...

SO after a year of creeping reading other peoples blogs and finally convincing my husband it was a good idea...here is my first blog post!

We have owned our house for a little over a year, but I moved in April once we were officially Mr. and Mrs.

Walking out of the church - WE'RE MARRIED!

Now that wedding planning is over and I have settled in lots of projects have been happening.  When we purchased our house it was a short sale, the structure was great, but the house needs some TLC - exactly what we were looking for.  We loved the idea of being able to make the changes so the house would suit us while adding value to our home.  We have a constant project/purchase To Do List, which always seems to be growing :).  It is, and probably always will be, a work in progress, but seeing the before and after makes it so worth it!
